There’s value in the journey 👇🏻

Not every step in your life or career is going to be your dream situation....

But every step in your life and career IS a stepping stone, slowly forming pieces of the path to who you’re meant to be.

Take my first career, for example. I headed straight into investment banking after graduation, despairingly thinking “well, I guess this is it.”

After getting laid off, I viewed the time I spent in investment banking as a total waste. 🙄

That is, until I found myself sitting on the other side of the table looking to sell majority stake in Sprinkles Cupcakes to none other than - yep, that’s right - investment bankers.

Life has a funny way of coming full circle, and every pivot, boring job and “mistake” eventually comes back to you as a lesson or integral experience down the line.

If you feel rushed to have the “perfect” job, home, partner, or life right now, remember that where you are right now is just a piece of the puzzle on your journey 🧩

In order to succeed as an entrepreneur, an investor and a business owner, I first had to fail.

I failed at my first career, getting laid off from my steady job and feeling completely lost.

I then failed countless times over as I learned the ins and outs of business with Sprinkles Cupcakes, struggling with things like staffing, systems and inventory...

But can you imagine if I had let these “failures” hold me back from all the success that was yet to come? If I had let the FEAR of failure stop me from even trying?

If you’re not going for your dreams because you’re afraid of failing, remember that failing isn’t something to be ashamed of. Failure is proof that you had the courage to go for it in the first place!

One of the best examples of persistence is the story of Melanie Perkins, Co-Founder and CEO of Canva.

Consider how many “no’s” it takes to discourage you from pursuing something you believe in.

Now, imagine facing 100 “no’s” - would your belief in your dream remain unshaken? 🤔

It was a perfect day in Sun Valley without a cloud in the sky, and we were lucky to be in the path of totality. I remember everything getting very quiet and cool - almost chilly - on this hot August day. It became progressively dark and as the sun slipped behind the moon entirely, a cheer erupted from a neighboring watch party, echoing across the valley. It was a magical and awe inspiring event.
