Sprinkles

In 2001 I went from banking to baking when I lost my job in the dot.com bust and went to pastry school instead of business school. After briefly selling special occasion cakes out of my apartment, I set my sights on reinventing the basic cupcake. In 2005, my husband and I opened Sprinkles, the world’s first cupcake bakery, and in 2012 we launched the world’s first Cupcake ATM. The Los Angeles Times called Sprinkles “the progenitor of the haute cupcake craze,” and Oprah called us one of her favorites. Today, Sprinkles has 40 locations nationwide and has sold over 75 million cupcakes.
